Europe, from the world’s oldest democracy to its newest countries, the European stamps and postal history of the various European countries and states which formed them are a rich panorama of famous people, monarchs, wars, conflicts  colonisations and the movements of people. The history of every country can be charted through its stamps and postal markings, the two great wars in Europe touched the stamp designs of almost every place, the seized and overprinted stamps telling stories of their own, the stamps of the Spanish Civil War, the British stamps overprinted by the Irish in 1922, the grand Soviet ideals set out in miniature. The  Europe powerhouse of the 19th Century saw sophisticated European stamps issued and postal developments. The various colonies by the European major powers spread south through the Africa’s, West to the Americas and east to the Asian and the pacific regions spanning the entire globe.
